Some restaurants are ideal for light bites and
cocktails, while others are suited to strictly main course fare. Yet, ever
so often you are rewarded with a restaurant that is capable of excelling in
both areas, and the patrons are the beneficiaries. That is exactly the case
with Midtown’s new hotspot Proof and Provision, where the trendy name is just
one of the surprises you’re likely to find.
The location couldn’t be more perfect. Situated
directly across from the Fox Theatre and housed inside the Georgian Terrace
Hotel, Proof and Provision is likely to get a hip mixture of the theatre crowd
as well as on the town players. Executive Chef Zeb Stevenson already has a
stellar reputation helming the Livingston Restaurant upstairs in the hotel, so
diners should expect more of the same delicious food, bustling city views and a
sleek atmosphere. The tables are ideal for small groups and couples, with
modern furnishings and cool color palettes that complete the look throughout.
The look of Proof and Provision is one thing,
but the food is the star of the show. A few of the menu standouts serve as a
testament to the variety of small plates and entrees offered here. Notables
include: confit chicken wings, griddled prosciutto sandwich, shaved prime rib
and a pair of French bread pizzas named “Harold’s Revenge’ and “The Copycat.”
Appetizers that are perfect pairings with a choice cocktail are the deviled
eggs, chicken liver mousse and select meat and cheese plates. Since the drinks
are an equally featured player here, you have a choice of just about anything.
Proof and Provision is located at 659 Peachtree
Street NE, Atlanta, 404-897-5045. Operating hours are: 5 p.m.-midnight
Tuesdays-Thursdays; 5 p.m.-2 a.m. Fridays-Saturdays. For more information visit
