Atlanta Marathon

This year, the 26.1 mile race will be on Thanksgiving Day, starting at 7:30 a.m. The Half-Marathon begins at 7 a.m.

The marathon starts just outside Turner Stadium, the half-marathon at Peachtree Road and Clairmont Road.

In either case, runners new to Atlanta discover that the area has a lot of hills. Some aren’t apparent on the MARTA ride downtown or to Chamblee (half-marathon), especially the long, seemingly gentle slopes seen out a window. Running them is another matter, but the challenge makes finishing even more valuable to a runner’s memory.
