May is a busy time of year on the concert front as many artists hit the road to kick-off their respective summer tours. The Atlanta area will certainly be a hotbed of such concerts as major headlining acts like Dave Matthews Band and Jason Aldean are set to take the stage.

The Dave Matthews Band (DMB) is one of the top touring acts in the world consistently selling out shows across the globe. The band has produced 7 studio albums ( Under the Table and Dreaming 1994, Crash 1996, Before These Crowed Streets 1998, Everyday 2001, Busted Stuff 2002, Stand Up 2005, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King 2009) of which the last 5 have debuted at #1 on the Billboard Charts. Despite their commercial album success, the Dave Matthews Band is largely known for their live performances that can only be described as an eclectic mix of rock, blues, jazz, soul, bluegrass and even hip-hop. Seeing DMB live is certainly something that should be on everyone’s bucket list regardless of what type of music you are into. The Dave Matthews Band will be playing Aarons Amphitheatre at Lakewood on May 22nd, 2012.

Jason Aldean will also be in town for 2 sold out shows on May 18th and 19th at Aarons Amphitheatre at Lakewood. Jason Aldean is one of the fastest rising country music stars currently on tour. Aldean is currently on his 2012 My Kinda Party Tour promoting his award winning album of the same name. Hit songs from the album currently playing on radio stations across the nation include “My Kinda Party”, “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with Kelly Clarkson, “Dirt Road Anthem”, “Tattoos on This Town”, and most recently “Fly Over States”. Joining Jason on tour is Luke Bryan, no country music slouch himself, and former American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina.

In addition to Jason Aldean, Atlanta will host many other country music stars in May. The genre busting Zac Brown Band will be performing Aarons Amphitheatre. These local legends will be playing a sold out show on May 12, 2012. Expect them to play their hit songs “Chicken Fried”, “Toes”, “Knee Deep”, “Colder Weather”, and many more. Last but not least Trace Adkins will be rocking the Cobb Energy PAC on May 17th. Trace has an impressive 20 singles that have made the Billboard Charts from his 13 studio albums including “No Thinkin’ Thing”, “Ladies Love Country Boys”, and “You’re Gonna Miss This”.

Other Atlanta hit concerts scheduled for may include Drake with J Cole and Waka Flocka Flame at the Aarons Amphitheatre on May 20th, Creed at the Tabernacle Atlanta on May 27th, and Funk Fest 2012 featuring New Edition on May 18th.
