In 1982 CNN2 was launched, which was the first cable station to feature nonstop 24-hour news. The broadcast was broken down into 30 minute news segments and paved the way for the many news-only stations that have launched in the past 30 years. Even with this explosion of mass media, CNN has remained the leader and most recognized name in the news business. The following infographic shows how the concept came about and how CNN has influenced the past 30 years of news.
