Located in the Ansley Mall shopping space, Bantam & Biddy is the latest brainchild of the aforementioned Shaun Doty and Chef Lance Gummere. The décor of Bantam & Biddy is somewhat of a modern take on a comfy southern home. Basically, this means that the color palate, fixtures and design are all sleekly modern, but the warmth you feel once inside, accompanied by the floor plan, feels just like home. The crowds here have been varied, which is a testament to just how Shaun Doty’s culinary vision resonates with a myriad of people.
The menu is a welcoming mixture of the familiar and the unexpected, giving diners the option for interesting, yet delicious food experience. Some of the standouts from the menu include: the Pastured Chicken Sausage and Mash, Niman Ranch Pork Schnitzel, Rotisserie Penne Pasta, Anson Mill Speckled Grits, Duck Fat Fries, Aged Cheddar Mac n’ Cheese, Carolina Red Peas & Rice and the Chopped Pastured Chicken Liver. Certain selections on the menu are also available in gluten-free form to cater to various dietary needs. Lunch and dinner aren’t the only things served here, as the breakfast menu is also quite impressive. Some notables include: Fried Chicken, Chicken Sausage or Rotisserie Chicken on a Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuit, Cheddar Waffle, Fried Chicken & Waffles and the Protein Scramble (black beans, aged cheddar, rice and green chile salsa).
