14th Annual BaconFest to Benefit Dads Garage Theatre Company

Everyone has at least one food that they consider to be a guilty pleasure. As a matter of fact even die-hard foodies and food snobs have certain foods for the more unelevated palate that they can't help but indulge in. At the opinion of many, good 'ol hearty bacon falls into this category, with its intoxicating smell and even more irresistible taste, it has become one of those foods you're hard-pressed to resist. Atlanta seems to appreciate the greatness of bacon, as this year marks the 14 th Annual BaconFest celebration set for this spring. This year, the celebration isn't just about the delectable goodness that bacon brings, but also set to help one of Atlanta's most beloved theatre companies. Read all about it below! Defying bulldozers, hardhats and cement trucks, the wildly popular BaconFest will rise from the dirt mountain of its former home and descend upon the Masquerade Music Park on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sponsored by MailChimp, BaconFest will again benefiting Dad's Garage Theatre Company, who recently found itself without a permanent home of its own and is currently producing shows at neighboring 7 Stages Theatre in Little Five Points, until they find their forever home.

Utilizing the extra space that Masquerade affords the event, BaconFesters can expect a triple helping of everything during the 14th annual event. That means more bacon, more beer, more music, more booths, more entertainment, an expansive and extravagant silent auction and, as always... more shenanigans. Selling out every year, all proceeds benefit Dad's Garage Theatre Company, a nonprofit theatre group that engages, cultivates and inspires artists and audiences alike by producing innovative, scripted and improvised works that are recognized locally, nationally and internationally for being undeniably awesome. Tickets start at $25 and are on sale now at www.dadsgarage.com for ages 21 and up. Founded in 2000, the kitschy festival has become a fixture in the Atlanta community by combining troughs upon troughs of cold beer and sizzlin' bacon with live performances by favorite local bands; hilarious carnival games manned by the best improvisers in the city; and unforgettable entertainment like a drunken spelling bee, crowning of bacon king and queen, and more. Also returning to BaconFest this year is the "Go Whole Hog!" VIP ticket option that gives festival goers exclusive access to a whole pig, this year roasted by the critically acclaimed BBQ masters at Bone Lick BBQ and delicious specialty brews.

Additionally, local businesses like Mary Todd Hairdressing Company, Atlanta Rollergirls, Whynatte, The Vortex Bar & Grill, Pallookaville Fine Foods and Diesel Filling Station have jumped on board to provide tastings and special offerings for attendees. Dad's Garage is offering three early bird ticket options for the 14th annual BaconFest: - Portioned Porking ($25 online): Admission to the festival, 5 game tickets, and three cups full of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, bacon or both. - Bottomless Bacon ($45 online): Admission to the festival, unlimited game playing, and unlimited Pabst Blue Ribbon beer and bacon. - Go Whole Hog! Still not enough swine? For $40 more, attendees can upgrade from 'Bottomless Bacon' and ham it up with some serious style by getting access to whole pig roasted to perfection by Bone Lick BBQ, several kegs of specialty beer, and some exotically flavored bacon.

Whole Hoggers also get a special BaconFest 2014 t-shirt! Depending upon availability, tickets can be purchased at the door. Pricing is subject to increase. BaconFest will be held at the Masquerade Music Park in Poncey-Highlands at 695 North Avenue NE. The event will be held no matter rain or shine for ages 21 and up.
