17th Annual Heritage Arts Festival Returns to Underground Atlanta

Looking for an artistic alternative to the traditional Fourth of July festivities? Well, look no further because Underground Atlanta is once again playing host to the 17th annual Heritage Arts Festival taking place July 4th through the 8th. Featuring arts, music and live demos, this is a nice way to ring in Independence Day with a twist. The Heritage Arts Festival offers a host of attractions and events for visitors to enjoy.

The Artist Market will have more than 50 local and international booths containing jewelry, beauty products, clothing and paintings just to name a few. There will be two stages set up for live entertainment featuring Takiya, Jazzmatic, The Frame and B Devine. If those musical acts don't suit your tastes, you can always head inside Kenny's Alley and partake in some soulful blues sounds. Other forms of entertainment at the festival include: storytelling, book signings, stage plays and film screenings.

Running all weekend long, Black in Faith is a film series showcasing the progression of Blacks in cinema, and it's hosted by The African American Cinema Gallery. Live demonstrations from artists like Aaron El Amino, round out the activities as he creates live art while encouraging the audience to do the same.

The best thing about this celebration of the arts is that it is totally free to the public! The dates for the Heritage Arts Festival are as follows: July 4 th & 5 th 10am-8pm July 6 th & 7 th 10am-9pm July 8 th from noon until 6pm. While parking for this event is fine, MARTA is encouraged as festival crowds tend to make parking more difficult than normal. Underground Atlanta is located at 50 Upper Alabama St. Atlanta, Ga 30303 404-523-2311. For more information about the author, Danielle Jennings, please visit my Google+ profile page.
