18th Annual Heritage Cultural Arts Festival Returns to Underground Atlanta

Art is one of those things that is largely subjective, however everyone can likely find a type of art that they can relate to and appreciate. For the 18 th year in a row, the Heritage Cultural Arts Festival is hoping that Atlanta residents come on down and select some of the wonderful art on display and acquire it for their personal collection. With Underground Atlanta once again on board as the host venue, expect an enlightening and exciting event to add to your summer schedule. Come explore the 18 th Annual Heritage Cultural Arts Festival at Underground Atlanta during a full weekend of traditions and talent from all over the globe. Expand your perception of art and culture with different genres of music, dance, film, painting, digital media, sculpture and more. Attendees will also find a variety of events to participate in each day during the festival.

Dive right into the annual celebration with Underground Atlanta's Guided Walking History Tour starting at 9:30 a.m. daily to learn more about Atlanta's early development to modern day culture. Visitors can enjoy an assortment of entertainment, live music, artist and vendor markets and on-site demonstrations. "The Heritage Cultural Arts Festival is designed to enhance public awareness, education and appreciation of the arts," said Andre Thompson, Heritage Cultural Arts Festival director and artist. "It has been created by artists, for artists, with established and up-and-coming artists in mind." Below is a sampling of the activities that are scheduled over the festival weekend. Art Booths : More than 50 National and International booths featuring artifacts, artwork, jewelry and more. Opening Night Gala : Join Underground Atlanta in a celebration of culture and history.

The Children's Museum : "What's on Your Mind" - Children share thoughts on canvas. Speak Easy Cigar & Hookah Lounge Cocktails & Canvas/Paint by Numb3rs : Where everyone becomes an artist one number at a time. Speak Life at the Heritage : Spoken word poets, musicians and entertainers all hit the mic. Arts, Beats & Tweets : Where art and tweets come together. Youth Day Party by Big Boi's Big Kidz Foundation Go-Go Day Party, House Day Party : "Blue Crabs and Paper Bags" - Where D.C. meets Atlanta. Soul Trail Costume Party : Where the soul train line meets the stage. Kidz Korner by Big Boi Big's Kidz Foundation : Workshops and "Win, lose or draw" kid entertainers. Art of Wine Tasting : Artists collect and paint wine bottles. "How Great Thou Art" : Wrap up your weekend with an inspiring gospel celebration of art. Throughout the festival there will be 20 bands performing R&B, Rock, Jazz and Blues in Kenny's Alley. A selection of independent films will also be showing at the ACVB Visitors Center at Underground Atlanta during the festival weekend.
