Atlanta Happenings Week of 1072013

Hey all! Looking for the hottest events going on in Atlanta this week? Then you've come to the right place. From sports to concerts to events on the ice, check out the best events to see throughout this first full week in October. The Atlanta Falcons take on the New York Jets for Monday Night Football at the Georgia Dome . Despite a 1-3 start to the season and probable retirement of tight end, Tony Gonzalez, there's still time and opportunity for the Falcons to turn things around. The Braves are still looking great in the post season.

Depending on how things go in LA against the Dodgers on Sunday and Monday, the Braves could be back on home turf on Wednesday. If that goes well, the Braves will continue on to the National League Championship Series (NLCS) where they'll take on either the Pittsburgh Pirates or the St. Louis Cardinals beginning on Friday. There are some really interesting theater events that are happening in town this week also.

The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center is hosting Atlanta Opera: Tosca. This beautiful lyrical experience tells the tale of bloodshed in revolutionary Rome. The heroine, Tosca, takes on the insidious police chief, Scarpia, to save her love, Cavaradossi. If you're looking for something a bit more lighthearted, check out either America's Got Talent on Tuesday at the Fabulous Fox Theatre or Disney on Ice: Let's Celebrate all week at Phillips Arena. Some of the acts that can be seen from the wildly popular reality show, AGT, include winner Kenichi Ebina, magician Collins Key, comedian Taylor Williamson, comic acrobats that KriStef Brothers and musician Jimmy Rose.

Disney on Ice is always a popular event for the children where they can see all their favorite characters like Mickey and Minnie. As far as music goes, the best concerts to see this week include Passion Pit on Thursday at Music Park at Masquerade, Kid Cudi on Saturday also at the Music Park Masquerade and Danzig on Saturday at the Center Stage Theatre. So those are your top events for the week. Be sure to get your tickets in advance and have a great week! For more information about the author, Gary G., please visit my Google+ profile page.
