Atlanta Happenings Week of 9162013

Atlanta is the place to be this third week of September, and it is going to be a busy one! There are tons of events going on. There's golf, music festivals, theater and, of course, college football. Since many of these are big ticket events, if it's an event you really want to go to, it's best to make sure to get your tickets in advance. Taking place at the East Lake Golf Club is the Tour Championship by Coca-Cola. This tournament is part of the PGA Tour and is usually one of the last events of the PGA Tour Season. Coming out of this past weekend's BMW Championship in Lake Forest, IL, the current leaders are Brandt Snedeker, Charl Schwartzel and Sergio Garcia. The music festivals include the Honda Civic Tour and Music Midtown Festival.

The Honda Civic Tour will take place on Monday at Aarons Ampitheatre at Lakewood and will feature Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson & PJ Morton. The Music Midtown Festival is a multi-day event and takes place next weekend at Piedmont Park and it has quite the line up! The headline act at this festival is the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but also appearing will be Journey, Queens of the Stone Age, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Imagine Dragons, Weezer, Kendrick Lamar and so many more. Other hot events and concerts include comedian Ron White on Tuesday at Buckhead Theatre, Miranda Lambert & Dierks Bentley on Thursday at Aarons Amphitheatre and the Arctic Monkeys on Saturday at Music Midtown. Next weekend, the Georgia State Panthers take on the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at the Georgia Dome and the big college game is the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The Yellow Jackets are looking really good this year, so far. They beat Duke this past weekend, 38-14. It seems likely that they'll be the ACC Coastal Division leader this season. So there you have it, the hot events going on this week. Come out to Atlanta this week and check out some great music and thrilling sporting events. There is something for everyone. If you need tickets for any of the events mentioned above be sure to act now before it's too late! For more information about the author, Gary G., please visit my Google+ profile page.
