Atlanta Street Food Festival Celebrates Second Year

There really is no bad time to indulge in some good old-fashioned comfort food, especially when it comes from some of the best Atlanta street food vendors. If the street food phenomenon is right up your alley, then the return of the Atlanta Street Food Festival is definitely an event you should attend this weekend. Find out what you can expect to taste and indulge in from this newbie festival celebrating its second year. Atlanta's favorite food trucks roll into Piedmont Park on Saturday, July 13 th , from noon to 8 p.m, for the second annual Atlanta Street Food Festival. Presented by MARTA, the Festival is the city's only day-long event dedicated to street cuisine. The 2013 Atlanta Street Food Festival represents the largest gathering of food trucks in the Southeast, bringing together more than 25 food trucks, local merchants and artisans, and live musical entertainment from some of the area's favorite performers.

Feature trucks include Yumbii, Mix'D Up, Masala Fresh, Smileys, Happy Belly, W.O.W and Williamson Brothers BBQ. This year's new event format offers attendees more food options, more fun and shorter lines. 20 th Century Fox debuts a very special food truck at this year's festival. Dos Bros, the taco food truck from the new DreamWorks Animation film Turbo , will be slinging tacos and posing for photo-opps. The first 500 visitors to the "Hollywood-bound" truck receive a free taco. "The hottest food trend in Atlanta remains the street food movement and we wanted to celebrate the success of these entrepreneurs by showcasing their cuisine in one fun-filled day," Atlanta Street Food Festival founders Alisha Nesbitt and Cheryl Hasting said. "Our goal remains bringing the city together for an affordable, family-friendly event that highlights our diverse culinary offerings."

In addition to cuisine and shopping, guests can enjoy live entertainment from a variety of local bands and artists brought to the festival by sponsor, Lethal Rhythms Entertainment. Scheduled performers include: Menin Blues, Gritz and Jelly Butter Band, Secondhand Swagger, Southland Romeo, Bird City Revolutionaries. The Atlanta Street Food Festival is excited to announce MARTA as its presenting sponsor along with sponsors Bombay Sapphire, Atlanta Home Improvement, V-103, 1380-WAOK, Enchanted Blu Events , Atlanta Hawks, SweetWater Brewing Company, Georgia Aquarium, 20 th Century Fox and Lethal Rhythms Entertainment. Tickets may be purchased online or at the gate on the day of the event. Guests must purchase their ticket in advance to receive a discounted wristband which gives patrons one dollar off each menu item over six dollars. In addition, wristbands are good for one free cocktail from Bombay Sapphire, the exclusive spirits sponsor of the Atlanta Street Food Festival. Patrons can continue to experience the sophistication of Bombay Sapphire Gin by visiting any one of Bombay Sapphire's six bar locations, which is located throughout the food truck procession. A percentage of all sales go directly to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
