Can you believe we are already almost in July? Well, let's hope July flies by just as fast as June did because the Decatur BBQ, Blues & Bluegrass Festival is coming soon! Mark your calendar for August 16th and don't miss the 14th Annual Decatur Barbeque, Blues, & Bluegrass Festival, at Harmony Park in Decatur. The $10 admission price gets you seven hours of music! Because this is a fundraising event, food and drink are at an additional cost, but when is it not? Plus, it is for a great cause! With its grand appearance in 2000, the Decatur BBQ, Blues & Bluegrass Festival is more than just a good time with great BBQ and cold beer. This event has actually become tradition, helping to bring the entire community together! Isn't that sweet? (almost as sweet as some of the BBQ sauce you will be sampling!) Not only that, but all proceeds from this fundraising event are channeled back into the community through various local programs. So as you bite into your BQ pulled pork sandwich, you can give yourself a little pat on the back for a job well done! With sponsors like Sweet Auburn BBQ and Fox Bros. BBQ , you know it's going to be a party.

Do you like to enjoy your BBQ with a side of jam? Music jams, that is! This year, the band lineup includes favorites such as Michelle Malone, Kate & Corey, Roxie Watson, The Georgia Flood and more! As always, there are a few, simple rules one must follow in order to partake in the festivities: 1) Please no outside coolers. How else are the beer vendors going to make any money? 2) Pets are allowed as long as they are friendly and leashed. 3) If you decide to bring in a cooler, please read rule #1. Also, kids are welcomed at this festival! It is a very family-friendly atmosphere and great way to introduce the kiddos to some real southern cooking. Other than that, have fun and eat your heart out with the best southern BBQ in the world! For more information about the author, Denielle D'Ambrosio, please visit my Google+ profile page.
