Dinner with a side of humor- Agathas A Taste of Mystery

We have all had the same song-and-dance dinner and a show gimmick. I am sure, like me, you have sat through one too many for someone'e birthday, and I'm sure (like me) you have sworn to never go to another one again. Well, like most people do, I broke that promise this past week and enjoyed a night out at Agatha's A Taste of Mystery . I'd be a liar if I said I didn't have a really, really good time. Enjoy your dinner with a side of humor, pair your beef tenderloin with a side of witty puns and intelligent interpretations. I could go on forever. The point is, Agatha's isn't your regular Dinner Theatre with amateur actors trying to make it in show business. The actors and actresses are some of the best in the industry and many have even worked at Improv and other comedy clubs.

You've seen them at Agatha's, as well as on popular network television shows, feature films, and some have even gone on to work with the historic Second City Improv troupe in Chicago. These aren't your typical run-of-the-mill actors, just as this isn't your typical stuffy dinner theater menu. I wasn't joking when I said they offered beef tenderloin as a menu option. They give you nice five-course meal, with your choice of six decadent entree items. You won't see that at just any dinner theater. So, the food is good, the actors are talented, and you can assume the show will be too, right? Correct.

Currently, they are running a themed show called The Throne of Games: Fire and Ice Makes Water after the hit HBO show. If you are a fan of GOT, then you know that 95% is not meant to be humorous in any way, so you can imagine the challenge this team of actors has in front of them. The HBO show itself mainly thrives on murder, revenge and evil, while Agatha's version tends to poke a little fun at all the above. Let me just tell you, they nailed it. If they can make this show that funny, then you can imagine the talent they have. Go and check it out for yourself on one of the 6 nights a week they are open and you will not be disappointed.
