Restaurant Profile Osteria Mattone

Osteria Mattone The Table & main crew do it again. Set to open later this fall, Osteria Mattone move into the historic neighborhood of Roswell in November. The much anticipated grand opening comes from an announcement last spring when Table & Main duo Ryan Pernice and Ted Lahey announced their plans to open the Italian restaurant. Since then, much planning, research and travels throughout Italy have left us on the edge of our table seats to see what the menu has in store. As the only Italian restaurant on Canton Street, head chef Ted Lahey wanted to do more than open an Italian restaurant , not just a cuisine but an actual concept. He stated, "We ate our way through Rome, Naples, Bologna, and Montepulciano to refine the vision, visiting thirty-one restaurants in eight days.

In the end, we settled on building an "osteria" as the purest expression of the sort of warm, welcoming neighborhood restaurant vibe we want to offer. The great challenge and thrill for me is that Osteria Mattone must give our guests essentially the same feeling they get at Table & Main but through a completely different lens. "When guests enter this pseudo little Italy, they will be greeted by a huge, dine-in wine room, an informal oseteria on the left and a more formal dining area called the trattoria. Mattone means brick, so patrons can expect to see a ton of it. The wine room boasts 12-foot high ceilings and amazing decor. A beautifully landscaped patio will greet guests and offer outside seating for year-round enjoyment. The menu will consist of a strong Roman influence, offering fresh past and wood-fired entrees, as well as a pizza selection, risotto and other favorites from their trips. Menu items will typically remain under $30 and is a fun, family-friendly atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
