Restaurant Spotlight Ice Martini Sushi Bar

One of the great things about Atlanta is that there are so many little neighborhoods, surrounding cities and towns that have their own identity. One such town is Woodstock, which has a host of restaurants that are all their own. The latest resident of Woodstock is the ultra chic Ice Martini & Sushi Bar, which in the words of the owners, "attempts to bring a touch of Buckhead to Woodstock." From the looks of things, the upscale Buckhead neighborhood may have some friendly competition, but hey, in Atlanta there's always room for everyone. Owned by the husband and wife team Danny and Peggy Snow, Ice Martini & Sushi Bar is a cool, sexy hangout in the daytime and a vibrant, modern lounge at night.

Clean, airy, and ultramodern, it's like no other place in Woodstock. Named for the tiny crystals of ice that form in a truly perfect martini, Ice reflects the fact that the smallest details are often as important as the whole experience. Offering signature sushi and tapas, handcrafted cocktails, creative desserts and more, Ice-just like its namesake-changes in appearance depending on the time of day. Dinnertime draws a mixed casual and professional crowd enjoying a laid-back classic rock soundtrack, while later on transitioning to classic pop and cocktails.

On the weekends, after 10, the dance floor fills up with well-dressed ladies and gentlemen dancing to contemporary pop and hip hop, but the lounge atmosphere means conversation has a place here as well. The menu consists of a wide variety of select sushi, tapas, seafood and dessert. Some of the notable sushi offerings include: Grand Dragon Roll (crab, avocado cucumber roll topped with eel), Salmon Crunchy (rice crisp, masago, mayo with salmon & eel sauce), Kamikaze Roll (spicy tuna, cucumber, topped with yellowtail masago & hot sauce), Snow Roll (smoked salmon, onions, truffle oil topped with lemon & scallops) and the signature Ice Roll (lobster salad topped with shrimp & avocado with spicy ranch sauce.)

The delicious tapas also feature a few standouts like the Prosciutto Wrapped Figs (baked with mozzarella and drizzled with honey), Fiesta Bites (crispy tostada with mozzarella, tomatoes, onions, avocado and sambal) and the Mini Prosciutto Sandwiches (with cream cheese and sauteed onions.) The Baked Creme Mussles and the Yellowtail Serrano round out the standout menu items for me. Since this is also a lounge, there is a full service bar with everything you can expect, so feel free to indulge. Ice Martini & Sushi Bar is located at 380 Chambers Street, Woodstock, 770-672-6334.
