Restaurant Spotlight Seven Hens

With new restaurants popping up in Atlanta all the time, it can be pretty difficult to come up with a concept and menu that sets you apart from the competition. However, ever so often you come across an eatery that may appear familiar on the surface, but holds an innovative surprise inside. Sevens Hens restaurant aims to put twists on classic favorites, while creating their own culinary lane. Opening their first-ever location on Atlanta's east side in Decatur, Seven Hens is a place where chicken reigns supreme. It is served up in the non-traditional ways that are popular outside of the United States and brought to Atlanta for a southern appeal.

According to the company website, they "cook chicken using an age-old technique where we pound the breast thin, dip it in egg-based batter, and coat it with seasoned breadcrumbs inspired by exciting flavors from around the world. Once coated in delicious crumbs, the chicken is quickly fried to create a crunchy, tasty shell nestling a moist and tender meat. This cooking style is called "schnitzel." That's the basis of what Seven Hens is all about, but their menu is a lot more interesting than just chicken served up seventy ways.

They easily take you around the world and back by giving you a three-step process to create your own schnitzel masterpiece. First you choose a country (either American, Mexican, Italian, French, Chinese or the Traveler), then you choose a style, which can be things like baguette, wrap, salad or platter, and finally if you get The Traveler, which allows you to create your own, you have the choice of finishing touches. These are a collection of fresh toppings, sauces, spreads and cheeses.

Vegetarians are also accommodated, as any menu item containing chicken can be substituted for tofu. Seven Hens is located at 2140 North Decatur Road, Decatur, 404-633-3000.
