Slow Food Atlantas Peach Jam Returns for Third Year

Atlanta residents are all too familiar with the irresistible nature of Georgia peaches, after all those born and bred are quite fond of the nickname to describe their native Georgia status. So whenever there is an opportunity to partake in one of the sweetest fruits around and represent our lovely state/city simultaneously, you better believe it's an event not to miss. Slow Food Atlanta's annual Peach Jam is gearing up for its third year and there is no better time to indulge in local produce and enjoy the hot Atlanta sun.

Join Slow Food Atlanta and Community Farmers Markets from Wednesday, June 26, to Sunday, June 30, for the 3rd Annual Peach Jam, a four-day celebration of Georgia's favorite fruit. "Peach Jam is a great way to celebrate our proud heritage of Georgia peaches and farming, while enjoying classic and not-so-classic spins on Southern favorites," said Katie Hayes, executive director of Community Farmers Markets. "Peach Jam reminds us all that there is nothing quite like a Georgia peach on a hot Georgia summer day." With four events over four days, there's something for the peach lover in everyone.

The Decatur Farmers Market joins the Peach Jam events for the first time this year, and kicks off the celebration on Wednesday, June 26, with a whole pig roast and peach BBQ sauce competition in the heart of Decatur. The festivities continue on Thursday, June 27, at the East Atlanta Farmers Market where event-goers vote for their favorite peach cocktails prepared by the city's top mixologists and enjoy peach-inspired dinner at this hip in-town market.

The East Lake Farmers Market hosts a "Peach-a-palooza" Cook-Off on Saturday, June 29, where guests can taste and buy unique peach dishes prepared by professional and at-home chefs. The festivities conclude with an amateur and professional Cobbler Competition and summer parade at the Grant Park Farmers Market on Sunday, June 30.
