Sublime Doughnuts

It is no secret that I enjoy sweets. I mean, what able bodied woman doesn't? I grew up with a father as a baker, so we were never shortened on supply of cookies, cakes and yes, doughnuts. My father would make some of the best doughnuts in the neighborhood and he always came home smelling like the flour and butter. If I close my eyes now, I can still smell it. He would always bake special treats for school events or sleepovers, and he always made sure to make my chocolate glazed doughnut with sprinkles. Luckily for me, he no longer bakes ( I say lucky because I would be 500 pounds) but that hasn't hindered my addiction to these sweet treats.

Atlanta is one of those cities that tends to fulfill dream after dream, and this time, they satisfied my sweet tooth. Sublime Doughnuts has really changed the game when it comes to doughnuts and I don't know if my dad would be proud or disappointed. Either way, they are delicious and I wouldn't change a thing (just don't tell my dad that.) Located in a quaint Westside shop, Sublime Doughnuts has been easily named the "best doughnuts in Georgia." I don't think there is even a close second. With flavors such as s'mores, maple-bacon-cheddar, Nestle Crunch and that "melt-in-your-mouth" strawberries 'n' cream, how can there be? Don't worry, they still offer the classics such as glazed, Boston creme and of course, chocolate with sprinkles. I do advise venturing out and trying something new, though. He even has some drinks to wash these down called "love potion" and "cool potion".

Go ahead, try them all. You may surprise your self. Owner Kamal Grant was awarded winner of Bake Magazine's America's Best Bakery Magazine in 2012 and was recently featured on Better Mornings Atlanta. HIs love for baking began at a very young age when he wanted to make people happy and he realized that sweets do just that. After he left the Navy, he embraced his love of food and bought a vacant doughnut shop on a trip to actually buy doughnuts (ironic, I know). Soon after, Sublime Doughnuts was born and a legend was made. I think it's safe to say he has fulfilled his dream of making people happy and I sincerely hope Kamal keeps the great city of Atlanta happy for many more years to come.
