The Rooftop by The Branded Butcher Restaurant Opens

It's not technically in Atlanta, but the city of Athens always gets a lot of love from us Atlantans, so when they have a new restaurant opening, of course it gets our attention! That is exactly the case with The Rooftop, which is from the creators of The Branded Butcher Restaurant and the Georgia Theatre. New restaurants are constantly popping up, but take a look at why you should try this one out. Georgia Theatre is thrilled to announce it has partnered with The Branded Butcher to re-launch its spacious rooftop restaurant, which has been a part of the historic Athens venue since it re-opened in August 2011.

Curated by The Branded Butcher's Chef Matt Palmerlee, formerly of Farm 255 and The Four Courseman, the menu consists of recipes on par with these well-known, farm-to-table entities while complimenting the Theatre's existing aesthetic. The Rooftop by The Branded Butcher is open for lunch and dinner, Monday through Sunday, with designs on eventual late night offerings as well. "Given the stellar reputation that Matt has built over the years, The Branded Butcher is an ideal partner to compliment the continually growing talent that the Theatre showcases," says Georgia Theatre co-owner Wilmot Greene. Not looking to outshine the street level fare of The Branded Butcher, which is known for specializing in charcuterie and sourcing all produce and meat from local farms, its rooftop counterpart is building off the existing menu by using Chef Palmerlee's own recipes.

The Rooftop by the Branded Butcher's menu is priced at $10.00 or less for a sandwich and side. A sampling of staples include: a grass-fed beef burger with Tillamook Cheddar, house-made pickles, onions and yellow mustard; the BBQ Sami, offered with smoked pork shoulder or smoked tofu with house-made bread and butter pickles and carrot and fennel slaw; house-made bratwurst with house-made sauerkraut and dijon; the house-made pastrami rueben with house-made sauerkraut, racelette cheese and pickled egg gribiche; the veggie bahn mi with hard boiled egg, cabbage, sriracha aioli, pickled carrots and daikon radish and cilantro; and smoked pork shoulder; and smoked tofu tacos with sriracha ioli, cabbage, pickled onions and cilantro.

Local lettuces will also be available, complete with radishes, grana padano, candied pecans and buttermilk dressing or a chive vinaigrette. The meat and cheese plate will include sliced sopressata and finocchiona, Sweet Grass Dairy Green Hill cheese, grana padano, house-made jam, cornichons and baguette slices. The Rooftop by The Branded Butcher is located at 215 N. Lumpkin Street in Athens, Georgia. Hours of operation are from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday, weather permitting. The restaurant will be closed for select sold-out shows as well. For more information visit www.georgiatheatre.com or call 706.850.7670.
