W Atlanta Downtown Launches Groundbreaking Film Series

Creative and innovation are two words that have been used to describe the W Hotels in Atlanta before, however this time the words have less to do with the hotel and more to do with their commitment to independent film. The W Atlanta - Downtown has launched a film series that is sure to captivate the city through each projection screening. Find out more about this city-wide event. W Atlanta - Downtown has launched a film series in association with IGNI productions & the G channel now showing on the downtown I-75 I-85 billboard adjacent to the property. To unveil this project, W Atlanta - Downtown partnered with established artist, filmmaker and musician, Felipe Barral, to create a new and unique way of storytelling.

In this creative effort and in accordance with the Department of Transportation regulations, the film will be rereleased in 13 10-second videos. Each episode will run for two weeks and will then be displayed as a complete series online at www.watlantadowntown.com/pixel . "This digital film series truly speaks to our passion points for film at W Atlanta - Downtown," said Tim Dahlen, General Manager at W Atlanta - Downtown. "We are fortunate for the opportunity to work with Felipe Barral in this artistic endeavor." W Atlanta - Downtown and the W brand have a rich background in the art of filmmaking, which originally inspired the partnership between W Atlanta - Downtown and Felipe Barral.

In fact, W Atlanta - Downtown has become known for recent film and TV series appearances including "Identity Thief", "Getaway" and "Necessary Roughness." In 2012, W Hotels Worldwide partnered with Intel to launch a short film competition as a part of the brand's commitment to nurture the arts. The competition helped to provide aspiring writers and directors the chance for global exposure. W Atlanta - Downtown has continued to foster the brand's commitment to film by bringing PIXEL to one of the biggest screens on Atlanta's streets. The digital billboard is 35' high by 100' long and reaches 250,000 commuters. "The main object of this experience is to not only entertain, but also to inspire," said Felipe Barral, film director. "I want to give the audience something to walk away with: the possibility to rediscover their human raw sense of wonderment." PIXEL is an inspiring story of passion and love that transcends time.

The film tells the story of a dedicated father who helped to prepare his daughter for adulthood after he passed away when she was three months old. His daughter discovers 10-second videos from her father, which mark the start of an emotional journey to unveil the true meaning of life. Welcome to a new revolutionary way of telling stories in unexpected places and the exploration of a new digital medium. Join the conversation #WPIXEL.
